The Science Behind Sauna & Steam Detox

"Detox" gets thrown around loosely in wellness marketing, so let's be specific about what heat exposure actually does.

Circulation. Heat dilates blood vessels near the skin's surface, increasing blood flow — which is part of why muscles feel looser afterward, and why sauna makes a great primer before massage.

Sweating. While your liver and kidneys do the heavy lifting on detoxification, sweating does help clear some surface-level buildup from pores and supports the body's cooling and circulatory systems working properly.

Nervous system reset. A quiet, screen-free 15–20 minutes in consistent heat is naturally meditative. Many guests describe the mental effect as more noticeable than the physical one.

Airways. Aromatic steam in particular can ease congestion and open airways, especially useful during seasonal changes.

We guide sauna and steam sessions in short cycles with cool-down breaks — no need to push through discomfort to get the benefit.
